Attended Muskingum College, New Concord, OH Played on the Muskies undefeated, championship football team of 1960 (QB and DB)
Attended and graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a BS degree in Education in 1965.
Was member of MTSU track team. Fourth place, pole vault, Southern Intercollegiate Track Meet in 1963
First twelve years of his teaching and coaching career were spent in Georgia.

In 1977, Tom returned to his hometown of Newark, Ohio where he has taught and coached since. The majority of that time was at Newark High School. Defensive football coach at Newark High School Defensive coordinator in five Licking Co/Muskingum Co all star games Head boy's track coach.
From 1988 - 1993, was on the football coaching staff at Newark Catholic High School as defensive coordinator. They won the State Championship in 1991 and were State Runners up in 1992.
Tom retired from teaching at NHS in 2004 but continues as head boy's track coach at NHS.
