Tom Wortman Class of '59
Athletic Hall of Fame Inductee

January 19, 2012

Dear fellow classmates of 1959 and other NHS and NC classmates
and friends,

I want to thank you for all you did to make my induction into the Newark High School Athletic Hall of Fame such a memorable, exceptional evening! It turned out to be the 'icing on the cake' to the various OTHER things you all did, prior to and following the actual event. I've received cards and e-mails for days before and every day since the ceremony/Jan 14th! Thank you. Nancy's putting them all into an album and I'm sure they'll be re-read more than once. It's been great and I've really enjoyed reconnecting with so many of you.

I especially appreciate Mary Lou Scott, Philip Vaughn and Jack Shumaker for getting out the word about it --- resulting in a big turnout. Janet Williams (and don't know who else) made T-shirts, 'Terrible Towels' and 'Fans'/with my senior head was great. Had lots of comments about our '59 class and 'their creativity and enthusiasm'! Doug Brookhart made a large poster that highlighted several special events from our senior year; it was displayed at the reception at the Elks. Jack Shumaker did a very good job of introducing/presenting me as one of this year's Inductees before I made my remarks.

But most of all, I just value and appreciate all of you who were able to
BE THERE as well as you who were there 'IN SPIRIT'; it really meant a
lot to me.
